Afton Turnbow Davis

Our Sweet Afton  Davis, passed away on Friday the 9th of February 2018, at the tender age of 98.  She leaves behind her two daughter’s; Judy (Dean) Alger and Diane (Gary) Brauch.  She has six grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren. With each new great-great grandchild she would say: “I just keep getting greater, and greater.”

She was the ninth and last child born on Friday the 13th of November 1919, in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She would say that Friday the 13th was her Mother’s luckiest day. She was the daughter of Joseph Auttor Turnbow and Emolyn Louise Lyon.  She lived most of her adult live in Downey California. She worked at Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California for over twenty years and had a gift of making everyone feel that they were her special friend.

Afton was blessed with too many talents to mention them all.  She had a beautiful singing voice and was an expert seamstress, creating her own designs and dresses for her girls. The flowers she painted in water-color adorned many of our homes. She had a great passion for writing and wrote many stories that we all loved. Her greatest talent was her ability to make her family feel the depth of love she had for us, and knowing just what to say to comfort us.

There is comfort in knowing that she will be reunited with her family, and especially her own dear Mother with whom she had a special bond. She has left behind a great legacy and will be deeply missed. Until we meet again.
